Hello, quick question.

I understand that the NSX Is a complete transformation and the N1K is just a component in the vshpere environment but does anyone know where I can find a feature comparison between the Nexus1000v features to the NSX features.

Thanks in advance,

Can't virtualize physical machine

Been at this all week - any help would be greatly appreciated!

The virtualization process starts, then at about 1%-2% it fails with this error:

BlockLevelVolumeCloneMgr::CloneVolume: Detected a write error during the cloning of volume \WindowsBitmapDriverVolumeId=[0F-48-E4-D7-00-8A-73-02-00-00-00-00]. Error: 126877841 (type: 1, code: 7929865)

I've tried defraging the disk a few times (a suggestion found on another forum) which didn't help. Any ideas? Thx.

Hi all,

I am trying to use the Horizon Client on a MAC and connect it to our VDI environment, but it fails with a certificate warning. I have made changes the ~/library/preferences/com.vmware.horizon.plist and certificateVerificationMode to 3. But it still say that it does not trust the certificate.

The Mac client is version 3.5.2

Thanks,

James

Unable to choose tiny or small size during appliance vCenter upgrade to 6.0

We are trying to migrate/uograde vcenter appliance from 5.5U3 to 6.0

After resolving the issue with diskspace on the source appliance we ran into an issue with selecting deployment size.

We cannot choose tiny or small. Only choices are medium and large, and since we have 3 host with a total of 30VM's it's quite overkill.

Anyone had this issue and know how to get the tiny deployment option back?

Native Office 2010 and Outlook VSTO Add-In

We are using a native install Office 2010 on our desktops.  We have a program that integrates with Office via VSTO.  When we run Outlook the add-in shows as Inactive in Outlook.  When we try to enable it we get the following error.  I have included the vsto file in the thinapp build so you see the vsto file.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working?  I would rather not have to do a native install since our Office Suite has a dozen different add-ins.

Random reboots

I'm curious if anyone has had random reboots on VM's with multiple app stacks attached? We are setting up a new environment to migrate our 5.x users to and seem to be stuck with this issue. I put in a support ticket with VMware a couple months ago, but got nowhere. The logs don't show anything, and I can't get the Windows 7 machine to stick memory dump settings. We are running Horizon 6.2, ESXi 6.0b (with the patch for slow login, but the problem was before we upgraded as well), App Volumes 2.10 (previous 2.9), and UEM 3.7 (previous 3.6). It seems to happen randomly with 2 VM's (only 2 people working in this environment), but the strange thing is it can go weeks without an issue and then it will happen daily. No consistent behavior before it happens, but it seems to happen the most when reconnecting from a zero or Windows client. I'm at a loss and looking for anyone who might have experienced this same behavior. Here's the last response from support, and of course I thought it was related to App Volumes because it ceased for about a month once I upgraded to 2.10. However, it's back and there's no explanation for it. We aren't using writable volumes, and no app stacks have been changed or added. I appreciate any help and apologize if this isn't in the correct forum. Thanks!

Hi Jason,

Thanks for uploading the logs, I checked system events & found the Kernel event ID 41 but there was no Stop error code information. May I know the App Volumes version you are using and also could you please configure complete memory dump on the image and capture the dump file ?

Using complete memory dump file, we should be able to determine the root cause of the issue.

System Event Snippet :

Time : 24-11-2015 00:49:14

Event 41, Kernel-Power

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Hi all,

I'm trying to run the view 3.5.2 client on Ubuntu 14.04 x86 (32 bit). Login works but if I start a desktop the remote MKS crashes after a while with this error:

ERROR:/build/mts/release/bora-2967609/bora/apps/rde/mksvchan/client/../common/mksvchanClipboardX11.c:75:MKSVchan_RequestTextCb: assertion failed: (g_helperThread == g_thread_self())

I have no idea where to go with this, any ideas?

Thanks,

SSL verification failure for "x.x.x.x" due to a host thumbprint mismatch

Заметил что это проблема не раз возникла у многих, но вразумительного решения я так и не нашел.

Установлен vSphere Client 5.5 на Windows Server 2003 R2

При подключении к Virtual Machine с помощью вкладки Console выдаёт сообщение:

SSL verification failure for "x.x.x.x" due to a host thumbprint mismatch: stored thumbprint ...

VCP6-NV Study Resources

Can anyone give some recommendations on VCP6-NV study resources?  Did you find Pluralsight more or less helpful than just using the hands-on labs?

Are there any other video training courses that are more up to date or better than Pluralsight out there?

Thanks!

Guest Dropped Packets (Received) ?

We have noticed that our new monitoring server (n-central) which checks all of our vmware esxi 4.x & 5.x servers, complains that the threshold for "Guest Dropped Packets (Received)" on our virtual machines has failed. Our vmware servers seem to be running OK, just a little concerned what this service status shows.

Any ideas? Thanks, Oliver

AD Plugin doesn't display subdomains

I am trying to configure AD plugin 2.0.7 on Orchestrator 5.5.3. Loaded plugin fine and configured root domain with SSL connection (set it as default domain), however our subdomains are not showing up. All child domains listen on the same port number.

I am not sure if this is something to do with the way new plugin needs to be configured. Do we need to configure each child domain connection directly?

Also, is it normal for this version of plugin not to have a configuration page entry on the Orchestrators config web UI (service port 8283)?

Edit: in the orchestrator client, within my AD plugin tree I found that general tab details state that Sub domain autoconnect is set to false. However, I can't locate anywhere within plugin configuration workflows and option that allows me to set it.

Power off after logoff not working

Hi all,

After upgrading to View 6.2.2 desktops pools with Remote machine power policy set to "power off" or "suspend" stay in "available" after logoff. After user logs off, the desktop stays in "available" even when the policy is set to power off.

Is this a common issue?

Thanks,

Wrong message "VMware Tools can be updated" for VM inside ESXi 4.1

$

Those VMware Tools in my guest OS keep on showing “VMware Tools can be updated” and the yellow exclamation.

Host OS is ESXi 4.1.0 build 348481

VMware Tools version is 8.4.8 build 491717

It’s not about the files with .001 extension as stated in the following article

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2001382

I have checked and there is no file with that extension.

I think the VMware Tools is unable to read or compare the correct numbers.  Or is there any other reason?

accessing Dell T310 running VMWare ESXi 4.1.0

Folks,

I have a server which is running VMWare esxi 4.1 and i need to get access to the files.  The server used to be in our UK office and was managed by head office overseas.  HO went bust and i took the server as it has confidential information on it.  I now find i need to access the files on it.   I have the VMWare root password but no idea how to gain access to the file system.  The server asks me to download tools from a remote host to manage it but it's not connected to anything to download from and even if it was the remote office is no longer.  So how can i get into it to get the old project files?

I've read that i need a console?  How do i load one?  I was expecting to enter th password and see some os gui either Windows or Linux but all i can get to is the 'customize system' screen

Can anyone help?

thanks

About shrink / clean up virtual hard disk

$

I've moved to WS 10 since quite a while, but it's just recently that I needed to shrink a virtual HD.  But I found that the shrink function has disappeared from VMware Tools!

After some search on Internet, I found that it was indeed removed in WS10.  After some tests, it turned out that it's removed from the version of VMware Tools shipped with WS10, which means if I installed an old version of VM Tools, shrink function is back -- but this is off-topic.

So, I found this article: http://pubs.vmware.com/workstation-10/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.ws.using.doc%2FGUID-421A1073-BF16-4BC7-AA76-46B954CA438D.html

There are several points that I would like some clarification:

* If VM disk is in FAT32, what to do?

* How does this differ from "Compact"?  Can't VMWare unify them?

* Maybe I don't have yet the habit to use the "Manage" on VM context menu, so I find it quite inconvenient.  I would prefer the "manage" part inside "Edit VM settings" (easier to find it) -- if VMware would like it.
