Help with VC5.1 SSO installation

Hey All

Was wondering if you guys can help ? Have been tasked to install a new fresh installation of VC 5.1 in our environment. The basic design is quite simple

  • install SSO onto a standalone server (I'm doing this as we have other VCs in the environment and will want all of those to connect to this one)
  • install both 'inventory' & 'VC' services onto another standalone server

So in order to install the SSO service I've created a new DB (on a shared consolidated SQL cluster - not local). the service account that is being used to install the SSO service has been assigned DBO admin privaleges to SSO DB (It is also in the local administrators group of the SSO server).

I'm trying the create an ODBC connection (using the 'odbcad32.exe' from the 'syswow64' folder) but i keep getting the following:

Now after reading the install and configure document it mentions that for an 'EXISTING' installation I will need to run the scripts located within the CD source files. However my query is if the SVC account has DBO rights then surely it should be able to create\amend anything it requires against the DB ???? (Or am i reading that wrong and have to manually create the tables and users first and then connect using the ODBC connection tool ???

Thanks for you help in advance

Munster
