Cannot open virtual machines after updating from VMware Fusion 10.1.0 (7370838) to VMWare Fusion 10.1.0 (7370838) on macOS 10.12.6 (16G1114) Sierra BOOTING from external Samsung Portable SSD T5 2TB.

1. Error when trying to open the application:

You can’t open the application “VMware Fusion.app” because the disk it is on has been ejected

2. Trying again opens it, yet says:

Application cannot run correctly. If current Security & Privacy setting only allows applications downloaded from App Store to run

But "Apple - System Preferences - Security & Privacy - General - Allow apps downloaded from - Anywhere"

is selected via terminal

sudo spctl --master-disable

3. Finally, when trying to open any virtual machine, it does not open it:

Internal error

No problem on other identical iMac booting from internal APPLE SSD SM2048L (2TB). Both are iMac 27‑inch Retina 5K display 4.2 GHz (4.5 GHz Turbo Boost) Intel Core i7 7th-generation (4 cores; 8 threads; model identifier iMac18,3 mid 2017) 40 GB RAM (2,400 MHz DDR4), Radeon Pro 580 with 2,304 cores & 8,192 MB VRAM.

What is going on? How to fix it? Thanks and Merry Christmas!
